Guest NKY77280z
Alright heres my story: I recieved a 1977 datsun 280z for $300 because the car doesn't start. It is being towed to the shop soon to be re-wired because its an electrical problem and the guy before me rigged it up so bad its impossible to fix it without rewiring. Now I was going to do a twin turbo setup and figured it was way too much money and decided to do a V-8 conversion. Now this is where I need help: I am new to the Z world and haven't done anything like this so i have some questions: Where do I get a chevy v8 engine for cheap? What all EXACTLY do I need to accomplish this feat? Is a v8 faster and better than a straight 6 twin turbo? How much money is this going to run me? Is professional installation recommended?? Any other comments/help please dont bash me for bein new I seriously need help for when I get this car back I want a kickass motor in my Z and need opinions/help Thanks a bunch Northern Kentucky Z Rider! You just asked five of the most popular questions asked by a newb. If you take the time to search all of those questions will be answered. You’ll want to look into the JTR (Jags that run) kit or make your own mounts. The $$$ spent is totally up to YOU, as well as where YOU get the engine, and if YOU need professional installation. Seeing that you sent the car in to be rewired an engine swap might be a bit out of your league. But if you take the time to search and learn what all is involved it can be accomplished. But the best advice I can give you is search and then ask specific questions.
