Guest Anonymous
In my search for new bushings for my 280Z, I got my hands on a tc rod kit, the one made of f nylon/aluminum (I think). The kit is unused, BUT, I only got it in a box, without any instructions on how to mount it. There is two dustcaps, I suppose, and one piece of sheetmetal, U-shaped. What is the idea of that sheetmetal? Measuring, what? And, the Motorsport catalogue (didnt buy them from them), says to use one factory rubber piece - where is it supposed to mount? Any help here would be gladly welcome, my plan is to have it on the road in May, ready painted and all (converting to a 280ZG). Inclusive the bushing job! z ------------------ Robin B. -77 280ZG
Guest scca
that steel piece is to measure the crush when you tighten the nut on the shaft-you use that to see how far apart the bushings are from one side 2 the other-- i dont think it works all the time tho. the alum bushing face forward so when braking the strut is pushing on the HD bushings. you should see IF you can locate a pair of bushings for the rear side (just poly) ------------------ Mike mike@fonebooth.com http://www.outlaw-brakes raceparts and brake upgrades. Guest Anonymous
Mike, I currently have the T/C rod kit on my car, and I bought the energy suspension master kit as well. Should I use the Urethane TC bushing on the backside? How do I adjust that out? Thanks Ct..
pparaska
I had the delrin/AL T/C kit on my car with the urethane bushing on the back side. I just adjusted it tighter until it stopped making noise going over bumps (after I squished the urethane a little) and then gave it another 1/2 turn. You just need to preload the urethane a bit to keep it the ball and seat from separating over bumps, etc. ------------------ Pete Paraska - 73 540Z - Marathon Z Project pparaska@home.com Pete's V8 Datsun 240Z Pages
Guest Anonymous
Thanks Pete. That makes sense. Did you notice a difference between that and the rubber? Ct..
pparaska
Two differences. One the T/C kit is way better than worn out rubber for stability, turn in, etc. Two, it's harsh as hell on pot holes, tar strips, etc. And watch that delrin ball - it breaks after you hit enough pot holes . ------------------ Pete Paraska - 73 540Z - Marathon Z Project pparaska@home.com Pete's V8 Datsun 240Z Pages
