MYRON
I stripped the chassis down to just the suspension and windsheild... I also decided to go with the r230 diff. I took the torch to the back half and cut the spare tire well out. I was pretty suprised how easy it was to cut it out and have a nice surface to weld the box steel to... I will drop the suspension this week and try to get it on a rotisserre.. Myron
Guest Anonymous
Hey Myron, I,ve also got an R230 in my Z. Weak link has been the halfshaft "design". I have a 90+ 300 turbo shaft with two inboard cv joints and an adaptor to the stock stub axel flange. If you come up with a better desing please clue me in. The inner cv's allow the axel to float between them and this has caused the axel to punch thru the cv end cap and pull out of the other cv joint. An interesting noise. Someone on this board is working on a way to replace the stub axel with the parts that the 300 use(half shaft continuing thru wheel bearing) If this works out this is the way I will try to go. In the mean time I take a spare cv to track events. Good luck with you new project and keep us updated.
