Guest Anonymous
Hey all! I've been lurking in the background trying to learn as much as I can without posting too many dumb questions. There is a 73 260z (not running but with a decent body) for $300 near me. Another guy has an 84 300zx turbo/5 speed with only 70k miles that runs like a top -- problem = bad body, for $825. How much of the 84 drivetrain and suspension could be moved over into the 73? Thanks, Aldo
Owen
IMHO, 73 was the last year for the 240Z, mine is a '73 240Z. A '74 would be a 260Z. This only matters if you care about smog laws I guess. As for the 300ZX, the diff can be used easily. The PITA diff is from the '88SE. '84 is 4 lug? You can use the front rotors and possibly the calipers too? Guest Anonymous
Aldo, I agree with Owen that you could use the rotors/calipers, but I would steer clear from there. The 84 motor was a fire hazard if the injector harness wasn't changed, and the turbo had a lubrication problem. From a suspension standpoint, I moved from a 280ZX to a 280Z due to the trailing arm suspension of the ZX. That was continued in the 300 ZX too. The rest of the suspension from the ZX to the Z are not compatible. Ct..
