I'm building a mean '83 ZXT...

...and I need suspension info to put power to the ground.

First of all let me list my current plan and maybe Scottie or someone could tell me what kind of power I'm looking at.

Here's the plan:

ATK rebuilt motor ('82)

Rebuilt T3 Turbo (Maybe T3/T4 depending on cost)

SDS Coil Pack system

240SX Throttle Body

390cc '86 Porche 944 Turbo Injectors Bosch Part # 0280150803

Pierburg Fuel Pump

3 in Mandrel Bent Exhaust

HKS Super Sequential Blow off (or Blitz)

Isuzu NPR Intercooler or Bell Engineering

ACT Extreme 6 Puck w/ HD pressure plate

MotDyn Lightened Flywheel

Ok I believe w/ that I should make near 350hp? My problem is that from what I've heard the 280ZX has some bad squat problems and this will be a drag car and maybe road race/autocross. Now not many people have discussed 280ZX suspension so I was wondering if anyone could help? (Ross C?)

Also can I make this a double attack vehicle? (drag/road race)

I was planning on getting GC all the way around, camber plates all the way around, beefier sway bars, and poly bushings. So how do I combat the squat?

sean-when you get stiff enough springs & good shocks/struts it wont squat any more.just drive car to gc and talk to them.you want car to squat a little-this is called weight transfer.if you set the car up as stiff as an indy car it would spin of starting line.the zx hasnt had as much development work as early z.it would probably be fine with some eibach replacement springs.tokico struts-bigger sway bars.i put coil-overs on before i put track tires on my car-mistake.

That is a nice package you have listed but if you want 350RWHP, do not even consider the stock t3. Call Turbo Specialties or Majestic and work with them to come up with the correct turbo for your use. The difference in cost between a rebuilt t3 and a hybrid is well worth it.

Zs SQUAT, LIVE WITH IT. The more you try to do to eliminate it, the worse it will be if you try to drag race the car. I have about 200# rear springs and Tokico Illuminas. At the track I set the shocks to the softest setting and it squats like no tomorrow but rockets off the line. The car can live a dual life, but the only caution is having a spring too stiff that will cause wheelhop at the strip. The adjustable shocks are highly reommended.
