front brake swap problem

I am starting my conversion of the front brakes on my 260z. I got the 4x4 caliper from supposedly a v6. it was supposed to be 1988. the side of the caliper is stamped with s12-8 not w? The problem is that I tried to fit the caliper over the rotor, just to check the size, and it did not fit. the rotor was running into the sides of the caliper. It looks as if the caliper could be grinded down without affecting any parts, but I am not sure. with my crude tools, (ruler) I measured the rotor and it had a width of .81" the caliper where it is hitting had a width of .65". I think I will be able to grind that, but will the pad fit also? I pushed the pistons back, all the way back, and they seemed like they will be able to accomidate the rotor, but I am not sure. any help from the brake guru's would be appreciated.

Well, I'll take a first un-educated stab at this. I've not used the Toyota set-up but I'm guessing that you've got the none ventilated calipers???(anybody else?). The ventilated calipers if they do indeed fit over the ZX rotors will be at least .9" wide (best guess)at the opening for the rotor.

I think Terry's right. I put the non-vented calipers on recently and I'm almost positive they had the -8 on the end of the casting number (I remember this because I saw a picture on the net of the caliper and thought it was a B) if the rotor hitting the caliper body then definitely the wrong one. One the non vented stock rotors theres lots of room. You probably have the 4x4, but not V6 caliper.
