240zbopper
hi all i just got myself a 1975 280z and wanna change the engine to a 1jzgte with a w55 gearbox. it has the old r200 diff. anyway my real question is what gauges (speedo, tacho, boost) would look good in the dash and work with the 1j and the gearbox? could i get a set that would all look the same? can the cost less than an arm and a leg? thanks 240zbopper
OlderThanMe
whatever you want to use and what you like. I would use the Autometer "Z series" on a stock dash. It has a plain, easy to read black face with red pointers. Plus they won't break the bank to buy. Just my opinion. I don't like white face guages at all on a Z. 240zbopper
i've just checked the autometer z gauges, they're nice but they're in MPH just like all so many other after market gauges. do any come in KPH?
Lason
Autometer has been really making me mad with their decision to not offer their new styles in 2 5/8" and 5" in dash I plan on carbon fiber autometers myself though. Best looking that are still offered in the bigger sizes.
MrFancypants
I've had bad luck with Autometer. Theyre just not well built. You definitely get what you pay for with gauges. I'd recommend Stewart Warner gauges at the very least. They have metric stuff too. www.sw-performance.com - Greg -
