81280zx
i messed with the timming on it already and for some reason it idles better when i retard it almost all the way but i lose my power so i put it back to 10 btc like the chiltons manual says. it seems to run best there maybe a little advanced but then it smells of raw gas. Guest mikedick6969
Im having similar problems on mine. Im damn near ready to give up and sell it to my brother. Then I can buy my cousins 76 Cobra with a 351W in it. I been at this problem for a week or more now. Not what I had in mind when I bought the darn thing. I work on it more than I drive it. roninjiro
did you guys check your vacuum advance on the dizzy (possible vacuum leak keeping timing from advancing with rpms rising)
Guest mikedick6969
Not only that, I swapped out the whole dizzy. Along with a host of other things. I also have put a new cap and rotor, plugs, wires, and an Accell super coil on it.
81280zx
should i just change the ditsy for a new or rebuilt on or get one from a junk yard if i can. all the vacumme line seem to be in good shape
Guest mikedick6969
Ive changed my dizzy and no joy there. Im goin to get some injectors from the junkyard tomorrow. I found the ones I had in there are pluggeed. What he was saying was check the vaccum advance on the dizzy for leaks. That may be the culprit in your case. Wasnt for me, but it doesnt hurt to be thorough.
