Guest Anonymous
I am looking into a custom car based on a 280Z, and am wanting to know if I could fit 17" x 8" rims all the way around with rubber bringing the overall diameter to something like 25" or 26"? Could I just cut the wheelwell or would this be much more intesive than I relaize?
pparaska
Do some searches for 17x9 etc. in this forum and you'll find LOTS of info on this topic. Darn, we need an FAQ! My site has info on how to get 17x9s on the back of a stock fendered 70-78. Check out the "Wheels and Tires" page.
Guest Anonymous
Basically, my '95 Corvette has 17 x 8" rims up front with 255 series rubber. I really like the proportions of this. Alot of the Import Car scene guys here run rubber on their rims that is too low profile for my tastes. I was planning on running some flares anyhow, and am wondering if the wheelwell part of the fender could be enlarged without compromising the unibody or having to enlarge the inner part of the wheelwell itself. jeromio
The only requirement for 17X8 is conversion to coilovers. You'll need rims with a 20mm offset. I have 235/45/17s on all 4 corners. I doun't think 255s would fit without rolling the fenderlips and going with less offset.
BLKMGK
I got 245s in back on my car but 255s wouldn't fit I don't think. Pete did it but his setup is pretty special. Now, try finding 4 lug wheels in the offset you want... 5lug opens many doors!
