Mike, how thick are those rotors? The 12inch ones I've go are like 1.25 inches THICK and when people see that their eyes bug out The pair of 4piston Outlaws weigh about what a single Toy caliper weighs if that. However the bigger rotors do weigh a little bit more I think. Hrm, you may need to add a master cylinder to your shopping list if you do this. I did and also gutted my rear residual pressure valve (easy). Pedal was soft(ish) until I went with a bigger (Datsun) master that Mike had... Guest scca Posted September 6, 2001 Share Posted September 6, 2001 yeah, the larger 12.2x1.25" rotors are more for looks- unless you do take the car to a track day..(road course)... although the rotors will likely last a very long time and the pads are .800" thick so they will last 3x longer than any stock pad.. the smaller 2800 setup i generally use a .81 rotor,same size as oem but larger vents and a better quality rotor, oh and with a alum rotor adapter just looks better too..... but i'd say more than 50% of us do stuff for looks too.... otherwise we'd all be driving a pinto /pony - dare i say Kia..... the WOW factor is great. when people see the BIG brake kit they look perplexed and if you tell them to see how thick it is then their eyes pop out of their head... pictures really cant do them justice..its really hard to imagine how massive they really are till you see them.. ask jim Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I currently have the 82-83 front calipers with 300ZX rotors and that required the spindle holes to be modified because the caliper mounting bolts screwed into the caliper bracket instead of the spindle. IOW, the spindle now has no threads. Is this a problem and am I screwed? Is it possible to retap the spindle and open up the hole slightly that the bolt passes through on the caliper or caliper bracket? Also, the 71s have a very narrow hat, does that change? I can run? what about backspacing? can I use a set of billet wheel spacers with them? Also does any body have any info om the cryogenic treatment of the rear stub axles? Guest scca Posted September 11, 2001 Share Posted September 11, 2001 the "smaller" 2800 setup will fit under most 15" rims, (and some 14") not sure about oem rims but i put a set on chucks 383 v8 zcar and it had 15x7 centerlines and it was fine.. i used a small 1/4" spacer up front but that was more to make the tires look right in the fender well than anything else. But if they must go well then go they will. Do you carry wheel studs I need a set for my 73 and my friend's 77 How much and where do I send the check?
