Guest beandip
Pro , I am a member of another web site that deals with 240s thru mostly to the '76 280 . I personally own a '73 240 and have recently reassembled it from a rolling shell . So I personally did the work including rust repair and body pounding and paint. I think I have a handle on the 240s . Rust is your number one enemy . It will be the most costly repair to take care of properly if you must pay someone to do the work . Places to look for rust damage is , below the battery , floors on both the driver and passenger sides. Lift the carpet and any padding and expose the metal also look under the car at these areas. Look for rust through. Look at the areas both in front and to the rear of the doors, down low. If there is bubbling in the paint , this is rust through from inside the ''frame'' rail . Open the hatch and check for rust at the corners of he sill where the bottom of the hatch rests. These are the main areas . One thing about these cars is that there is no frame as such . The sheet metal is the frame . This is why it is so important to find and control the rust. I recommend that you find the most rust free car you can afford . Depending on what you want the car for , and the emissions requirements in your area . This may dictate what you will end up with. You living is California is a big plus in your finding a good Z . Have a look at the web site , classiczcars.com and look around take a look at the search section . There is a tremendous amount of information on tap there .
