rustrocket
I posted a while back about help with my spitfire chassis. Thanks to the people who have helped thus far. I've looked over a few designs and have come to this basic setup for a tube chassis. Please let me know what you guys think. I'm using a narrowed 240sx rear end, and a 240sx ka24de turbo engine. Any suggestions for lightness/rigidity would be appreciated. Looking to build this out of 2x2 .125 aluminum tubing. My buddy has a die that'll bend square tubing, so any hard angles you see on the chassis itself will all be bent. Thanks for the input Note: drawing not to scale. ZROSSA
Looks like your getting there. There are a few tubes that run into the middle of other tubes that are not braced, front suspension to the middle of the fire wall for one. I would also like to see your suspension loads from where the wishbones mount tied in better. If you proceed with aluminium have a look at the lotus elise chassis. You could bond ali. sheet to the tube frame and make it a lot stronger with little weight gain. Douglas
