pparaska
Spot Caliper top or bottom: I think that if you put it on the top the cable will need to be longer. The lever has to pull downward to activate it if the spot caliper is on the top. This would involve a longer cable, since the cable would have to come down from the tunnel, and curve back up at a near vertical angle. But... Ford cable: If the Ford cable is longer (probably would be!), then this is an option. Plus you'd get away from the cable housing hitting the unibody. I'm generally lazy about doing research on this stuff, so I probably made it harder by trying to use the OE cable.
Ruben
Mike, I have an extra 280ZX e-brake cable, would it be longer than the 240Z cable? Just a thought, I don't even know if it will work in a 240Z. I had bought it to use on my current rear disk conversion (280ZX caliper), but I got my 240Z OEM cable to work for now (sort of). So I never checked to see if it would work. Ruben '72 240Z
Guest scca
well since this is getting some attention-- moving it here so it can be found again... Pete: do you think that IF the caliper was mounted opposite (on top) the cable attachment would have been easier? i was thinking it almost looked easier to get a good run on the cable? also i wasnt sure if keeping the nissan cables was a good idea as they dont bend easily. using a generic ford cable might be easier to work with..
