basic tech question - coilover conversion

hey guys, i'm wanting to know all thats involved in converting to coilovers.. i'm buying new struts with a coilover kit, and i just wanted to know if the only thing i really have to do is grind off the old spring perch on the strut... does the threaded sleve simply rest on the original spring perch material?

The threaded sleeve will rest upon a ring (I used a 3/8" slice of 2" steel pipe) that should be welded around the strut tube at an appropriate point that will allow the tube to be positioned for full use of the treaded portion (not too high or too low).

thanks for the reply terry! it seems like ground control has a pretty good deal for th Zcar struts/ coilover kits. They are offering the illumina struts with their coilover kit for 879 dollars. - anybody got anything better?

i can match it but wont undercut them to be cheaper. thats like $120 per on the illuminas. good price.

 

must be a special from GC as normally they sell the illuminas for $135 or so.

mike- i was meaning to ask you about the stuff you were selling... i tried to get on outlaw-brakes.com, but it wasnt up.. is your coilover kit the one in the Hybridz store?

hey mike - can you tell me about how much heavier your outlaw 4 piston calipers are over stock 240 calipers?
