Guest Anonymous
I picked up a FSM and a Haynes for my '71 240. I'm beginning to remove the rear suspension assembly and I found conflicting information on rear jacking points. The FSM says to "support the jack stands on the sides of the differential front cross member", and the Haynes says to "support the vehicle on the frame rails". Which one is correct? Is the FSM attempting to tell me in "Datsun English" to jack it up on the frame rails, or do they actually recommend I use the front cross member? Either way, what is the safest support point to jack the car for me to remove the entire susp. assembly? TIA for replys, just making sure that my son will have a living father after the rear suspension assembly is off the Z. Z
Tim240z
The way I always do it is to jack on the diff, and put the stands on the rear chassis, just next to the place where the mounting points for the rear sway bar are. (kinda in line with the front of the diff.). Hope that helps, Tim
