Springs - how much can I drop my 240

If you use 2" drop springs, you will most likely start getting into problems with hitting the bumpstops or bottoming the strut cartridges.

You might be able to put those rubber inserts under the springs to keep away from this problem. They're about 1/2" thick. This may be enough to keep you out of the problem with bottoming the struts.

This is why people section the struts and use shorter inserts.

But you can lower the car with a camber plate setup as well. That might be a good alternative, but some of them make noise.

Hello, I have a 1972 240Z with Tokiko non adjustable shocks. I currently have susp. tecqniques springs (1" drop). I bought some bump steer spacers and also picked up a set of Jim Cook Racing springs (about a 2" drop?). Car also has heavy duty front and rear sways and poly bushings. Question is ....with the rest of the suspension on the car stock can I use the 2" drop springs or am I going to have problems. If so, what do i need to do to use these springs....Thanks in advance, Andrew
