Guest hy240zbrid Posted January 28, 2007 Share Posted January 28, 2007 i just bought a 240z and someone is selling a 350 engine off a 79 gmc truck..my question is can this motor be swap in the z? and is it a good idea to buy it or should i go with a different motor? if so does anyone know how much hp or tQ is this motor stock. the motor start right up in his truck so what do you guys think...should i buy it?...thank in advance Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
specialk Posted January 28, 2007 Share Posted January 28, 2007 no reason not to buy the engine as long as the price is right (and it doesn't burn oil and about a million other things) As far as the swap goes, anything will go in with enough time and money and you're going to have to search through the posts here before you can answer whether this engine is the one for you (hint: a small block chevy is probably the most common swap ever for Z cars) Remember though, YOU have to search. Posting too many questions like the above will have you running for an asbestos suit or simply going away because of the grief you'll get. 240zV8 Posted January 28, 2007 Share Posted January 28, 2007 A 79 350 out of a truck won't be very fast in stock form, unless it's been rebuilt recently. It still won't be fast, but it would be a good daily driver if it runs good. Like he said, it's still a 350 so theres plenty of power to be had out of it.
