It IS an emulator, but the one my buddy has doesn't burn a new eprom, just takes the factory eproms place, and is re-programable. There's actually a little block you can get soldered onto the ecu board that has a small cam lock, so you can pop the emu. out, and plug a factory chip back in if need be. jakeshoe Posted February 12, 2007 Share Posted February 12, 2007 The emulator doesn't burn the EEPROM, it simply takes it place so that you can tune "on the fly" instead of having to take out the EEPROM, burn a new tune to it, re-install it, try it out, take it out, re-burn, re-install, etc.. The EEPROM programmer is a different piece of equipment. This was the way you had to tune the older ECM's before they had flash memory.
