Kinked_Chrome
I pressed out the bushings and "inner" collar on the front control arms. I put up the msa bushing to it, and it looks like it would be an awfully tight fit, though after more inspection, it looks as if there is an "outer" collar that could be removed to provide a better fit. Are the bushings going to be a really tight fit, or do i need to press out that other sleeve? Also, am i suppose to lube them?
jeromio
When replacing bushings in the Z Car, ALL of the bushing sleeves have to be removed, Except for the big mustache bar bushings. I don't have a press and couldn't get any machine shop's to do the deed for me (bastards). So, What I did was to use a sawzall and carefully cut the sleeve most of the way (hacksaw works too). Then I hammered at that cut part, bending the sleeve in on itself. Eventually it comes out. The trick is to not damage the control arm. Kinked_Chrome
So there are two sleeves for the stock bushings, and only one for the MSA bushings? Just making sure before i start pressing things with the 40 ton hydralic press that my high school convienently has

pparaska
That's correct. The OE bushings have an inner sleeve that the spindle pin passes through for the outer rear control arm bushings. So do the urethane ones. But the OE outer rear control arm bushings also have an outer steel sleeve that is pressed into the control arm. That's the part that you have to slice with a hack saw and remove. After removing the spindle pin (no small task!), most people heat up (with a propane torch) the the control arm in the area around the outer sleeve until it smoke alot and pull the inner sleeve/rubber out with pliers or vice grips. Then you slice the outer sleeve with a hack saw and remove it from the arm. The Urethane bushings go right into the arm after the sleeve is removed.
