pjo046
I am having problems getting the rear crankshaft oil seal onto the crankshaft. I have already broken one new seal in the process, so I have ordered a new one now. Does anybody have any tips or tricks? The flange on the crankshaft is a bit uneven and slightly rusted. Can I use some sanding paper to smooth it out a bit before my second attempt?
naviathan
I would takes some emry clothe and buff down any rust before trying to slide the seal over it. Put a little grease around the outside and inside of the seal before putting it on. Use a small rubber mallet and tap around it carefully to get it in. Or you could do it the right way and get the appropriate install tool listed in the FSM.
