Hello. My name is Mark and I just bought my first Z last night. :-)

I'm a lifelong Mustang guy and currently own a 1966 Emberglo Mustang Convertible showcar and a 2001 Bullitt Mustang. I've been getting more and more involved with NASA racing with my Bullitt, and have gotten to the point where I want a dedicated track car. The Bullitt is too nice to gut/cage, so I started looking for a suitable candidate. Foxbody Mustangs are cheap fun, but not much sex appeal. Miatas offer the best bang for the buck, but there are way too many of them at the track already. Anyway, decided to build a vintage Z. I've been studying this site and I'm pleased to see the aftermarket support and enthusiast level so high. The FAQ forum is very helpful to us newbies.

My car: 76 280Z, California car that has been in non-running storage for the last 8 years. No significant rust, body is straight. Car is still complete and original. My plans are to gut/cage the car, upgrade suspension/brakes, and get the L28 up and running. I will likely do a 5.0/T5 swap one day, but I'd like to think that's phase 2 or later.

Looking forward to learning all I can about the Z. I was intrigued to find that Peter Brock of BRE was a former Carroll Shelby team member. That's an interesting link back to the Mustang world. :-P

He was more than just a team member, as Peter designed the Cobra Daytona Coupe!! He's currently in the finishing stages of his V8 510 (350 SBC). I've been emailing back & forth with him over the last few days and he also seems to be recovering well after his incident where he was hit by a vehicle that went off course and struck him while trying to get back on course at an off road race. Anyway, welcome to the fold!!
