j_eremy Posted April 15, 2007 Share Posted April 15, 2007 I was trying to do some research on my zx, but I am stuck. my bin code is only 11 charcters long what gives? all the vin decoders ask for 17 characters.. how do I decode my vin? 80LS1T Posted April 15, 2007 Share Posted April 15, 2007 There's only 11 numbers because back then tnere wasn't a "uniform" VIN code like there is today. Now the government says all VIN's must be 17 letters/numbers long. They also have certain spots for things like what year the car is. If you want to decode your VIN you can get a factory service manual, a Chilton's manual or call up a Nissan dealership and they should be able to help you out.
