Strut tower braces?

I'm having a custom made chrome moly 6 pt roll bar installed next week, and I already have sub frame connectors. Would a strut tower brace in the rear be needed? How about the front?

The front cries out for a strut bar that triangulates to the firewall. The rear is a lot stiffer so the payoff isn't as great IMHO, and most roll cages put a tube between the rear towers anyway.

What's a sub frame connector?

Thanks Katman. I can quote PParaska's desciption of sub frame connectors,"they are the 2"x3" rectangular tubes that run at floor level from behind the seat (attached to the unibody crossmember at the front diff mount location) to the firewall and T/C rod brackets under the hood."

IMO a rear strut brace is necessary. The rear seems to be less structually stiff in that direction (shrug). I installed a front strut brace first, and then a rear. I noticed a big diff when I installed the rear, but that was in cornering. If it's a drag car prob not that important. The 6pt will stiffen the chassis (like maybe you won't need subframe connectors, though I'd put them in anyway) but wont infuence the rear strut towers.

It's no big deal. Put in the cage. Then make a strut bar later.

Regards.

Just as a note, if a piece of flattened pipe doesn't do it for you visually, look in the speed shops or roundy-rounder circle track places and find aluminum strut rods that have right and left ends. They come in varying lengths. With the ends I picked mine up for less than 45 bucks, I have to make the end brackets, but I have a crude template but I'm going to rework it to put the rod more in the middle of the two towers instead of slightly in back of the strut towers like it would be now (not sure how much diff that makes, but it seems logical).

Regards,

Lone
