staledale
Hey Speed, how much offset do your rear wheels have? With the right offset, I might not have to narrow the Jag rear. Thanks Dale
SpeedRacer
Hi Dale - can't find my specs. on the offset but..... Without pulling the rim off (sorry it's kinda late tonight)I measure about 1 7/8" from the back of the rim to the mounting face. So, 10" rim, C/L 5" would make offset about 3 1/8". Let me know if you need it closer because I pull the rim and get you a better measurement. BTW, I think Dayton will make wheels with a different offset if you want them. Hope this helps. staledale
Speed, don't go pulling off any wheels on my account. Don't you also have an adapter for the knock offs? From your pictures it looks like the rear tire could go out a little more without hurting any thing, right? Here's the story. A stock Z is 53.75 wide hub to hub, my Jag rear is 62, so we've got 4 1/4 wider each side. The GTO body is what 3- 3 1/2 wider on each side? So a standard offset should be close to fitting under the fender? Not having to narrow the rear would be a little relief with all the other problems I'm getting into. Have a 65 mustang that I've stripped down for a total resto to get a little mad money. I've got the GTO in his garage and miss it. Didn't anything left to unbolt so I started cutting spotwelds. Today I started going the other way. So it won't be long till I get my goat back. Thanks Dale P.S. Do you know the man's name or e-mail address that I talked to at Carlise? Guest Anonymous
I have a full set of Dayton wires that came with my Blue Ray GTO they are 15X8 inch. the rears are "reversed" at a 2 1/4 inch offset and the fronts are 3 5/8 inch offset. They have some really good splined adapters that can be interchanged to about any lug bolt pattern. Check with Dayton about offsets. 3 5/8 is getting in there and much more to the inside would look abnormal for traditional spokes.
SpeedRacer
Hi Dale - Yup, I have the typical Dayton adapter for the knock-offs. I just went out in the garage and measured a couple of things. I always thought I had 10" rears but they measure 9" which is the same as the front. Again, I am measuring them on the car with the tires mounted. So, I must have 8" rims probably just like the ones Tomahawk Z has. Since the tires travel through an arc it's difficult to tell how much room is left. My guess is that you could only move the wheels out another 1/2" to 3/4 max". A great deal of that will depend on the tire you intend to install. IMHO, if you lose to much offset it won't look right. I think 4 1/4" per side is to much to make up. BTW, the Michigan guy with the GTO that you met at Carlise is Dan Horton. Check your e-mail because I'll send you his phone number.
