Dan Juday
I paid $750 for a '91. Sounds like a great deal to me! Make sure you get that Camero bellhousing.
Guest RON JONES
I thought that sounded cheep. He didn't get the bellhousing, that was the only thing missing.Hew said something about the Camaro bellhousing Having a 15 degree offset?Does this make any sense, and is this what he needs? SpeedRacer
Hi Ron - Yeah $250 sounds like a good deal if it's in great shape. The T-5 trans in that year Camaro is canted over to the right 14 degrees for tunnel clearance. You can run it straight up though without any problems (I do in my GTO). I used the '84 and up Corvette bellhousing for two reasons - the hyd. slave cylinder is a lot better that the Camaro one and the trans. bolts on straight. Take the shifter out, heat it up at the base and bend it straight. When you make the JTR transmission cross member just bend the center between the exhaust pipe clearance bumps at a 14 degree angle. pparaska
Ron, Lakewood make a straight up (of course), and a Camaro canted bolt pattern blowproof bellhousing, FYI.
Guest chevsun
Ron. I just upgraded from an 87 t-5 to a 96 t-56. I ran the t-5 all last summer with no problems. With the camaro bell housing (15deg) the shifter came out exactly as it should in a 73 console. I used the 3/4 tilton master cyl. but would consider 13/16 if I did it again as my clutch barely disengaged.I used the t-5 slave cyl with no problems just some very minor denting to assure no clearance problems all was done per. the JTR manual. If you need the back up light pigtail it is the same for both t-5 and t-56 chevy p/n 12085485. I know I just swapped them. I watched in amazement when you ran at the super chevy show in epping last year. Will you be there this year?
Guest RON JONES
As of right now,yes I am going. You should have come over to the trailer last year.I'll make sure to let you know if I'm going for sure.the only thing that would keep Me home is if the car is broke.Thats funny,You saw the car run,how come you didn't say any thing before? Are you close to Epping? SpeedRacer
I agree on the 3/4" cylinder but I don't think Tilton (Wilwood) makes the 13/16" cylinder any more. I used the 7/8" and removed the stop that was down on the floor pan. That seemed to give it just enough travel that I have no problems. Guest chevsun
Ron. The first time you ran my wife spotted your car first and said "there is a car like your's" so we watched you run. Then we went on a search and found you near the back corner. I asked you a couple of questions about your setup but dident wan't to bother you on raceday. I live about 3 hrs north of epping on the VT. N.H. border. I'll be there Sat. this year if I see you I will Identify myself.
DavyZ
Ron, that was a bad deal he got on the T-5. To console him, I'll pay the $250 and even throw in an addition $100 to take that POJ off his hand for him. Of course, being the gentleman I am, I'll also pay for shipping to my door. Yeah, he got a good deal... David
Guest chevsun
Ron the other Z wasnt me. I diden't have a trailer and the Z isn't exactly a family car. I only spoke with you for a bit as I diden't want to bother you. I will look for you this year. I have never raced at a track but would love to sometime. Epping is the closest 1/4 mile track to me about 3 hrs and there is an 1/8 th in oxford maine. About 2 hrs from me.
