Kevin.pk
would it hurt to run the turbo ecu on an n/a motor if i leaned out the afm some. i only ask because i already have all the turbo stuff and no longer have the n/a ecu, dizzy, etc. i have a p90 head thats shaved .080 and with dished pistons the compresion is ~8.5:1. i asked about using this head with a turbo on stock boost on the turbo forum and it seemed like it is in my best interest to get an intercooler before boosting at that compresion ratio even at stock boost. i don't want to risk detonation and i don't have the funds to put and intercooler in it at the time. TONY C
i believe the turbo ecu has a different timing map and fuel curve. not sure about performance but it would probably be off. if you can not afford an intercooler and all, you could alcohol/water inject for cheap or free. just a thought. I definately would not boost at that cr. without an intercooler or alcohol or BOTH. if you do go intercooler, I got mine from ss autochrome for like 145 shipped. got it and it has GREDDY stamped on it in big letters. don't get any of their bov's though. btw. i have an extra na computer or 2. could send you 1 for $15. just a thought. Administrators BRAAP Posted May 31, 2007 Administrators Share Posted May 31, 2007 If you are thinking long term, find someone selling a complete OE N/A factory L-28 EFI ECU, harness, and AFM, (be sure to use N/A injectors as well), and use that. It will be more of a "bolt on and run" set up offering just little bit of tunability, but only a little. The Turbo ECU, harness, Turbo AFM and Turbo injectors should work fine on a N/A L-28, (keep it a matched set up, so long as you don’t change things like use an N/A AFM or different sized injectors, i.e. keep ALL the Turbo components together, it should be fine.) As for readjusting the Turbo AFM, you “shouldn’t” have to, but I say that loosely. It should be close enough as is, though worst case it may need a little fine tuning, but no coarse adjustments. Good luck, Paul
