Guest Anonymous
They should still fit, it depends on the backset of the wheel, my stock slot mags were I think about 3.? (sorry can't recall the fraction it was) backset and it bolted right up. If you have a interference problem for any reason, just go down to pep dudes and get a thin aluminum spacer plate and it'll clear, but I think you'll find stock it'll fit the non-vented toyota brakes on stock rotors setup. I'm not sure, but I THINK the aluminum slots were dealer add ons because the stock car had hub caps originally (at least early ones). I know mine were aftermarket with the letters A/P on the center hub cover cone. As far as polishing, I think there was a article on Zcar.com on brightening up wheels if memory serves (which it doesn't always do ). The short of it, if they're real bad, your going to start with a courser sand paper and go to finer as you finish. Polishing really is just making the scratches smaller and smaller until they are not super visible, rouge of some sort is really just a super fine grit. You'll also find you'll need TONS of rags to wipe off all the black oxidation you get as it starts polishing out and shining. Good luck with it, you may also find some more info on the net about polishing. I did a bit on some Harley parts I was fooling with, and it is a mess, but it does look fabulous when its done. I used Semi-Chrome for final polish (its a german pink polishing compound in a tube) and it seems to hold up pretty well. But you will probably want a clear coat of some sort over the shined pieces, aluminum oxidizes at a incredible rate. Regards, Lone
Phantom
I had 14" Shelby slotted mags with a 3.5" offset on my '77 when I mounted the Toyota calipers. The brakes cleared the wheels by .060", 1/16th of an inch. I had visions of that number becoming 0 under hard cornering so now I'm running 16" wheels & tires. I've talked to other people who had other types of 14" wheels and they didn't clear.
