Guest Anonymous
Will a 26" diameter tire fit in the stock Z wheelwell? How about a 28" diameter? Also, if either/both sizes would indeed fit, are they "on the edge" -- basically would they be fitting with next to no clearance or what? pparaska
I have 255/45-17 Mich Pilot MXX3s on the back of my 240Z, with stock fenders, fender lip bent up inside, and 8" coilovers. It's a 26" tire, and a tight fit on a 2" lowered car.
Guest Anonymous
Would you say that the fit is tight due to the lowering, or more because of the body? I'm intending to use flares (sort of), but from what I can see, the real limiting factors will be (a) suspension clearance and ( the rear rocker panel area. I should mention, I don't own a Z-car. I'm trying to determine if one will work as a donor for a custom project. Thanks.
pparaska
Well, it's a tight fit everywhere - inner wheel house, strut/spring (that's why I'm using an 8" coilover instead of the typical 10"), and fender lip. I'd think much over 26" is going to be a problem with the wheel house, unless you tub it.
Guest Anonymous
Quite the fool I am, I should have waited before posting. We just got our car back from the shop, and it's rear has a 26" diameter. Since I admire the proportion of it's wheels & tires to its body, 26" will defninitely suffice. This leads me to believe that that 28" would be too big and likely look awkward on the car. Anyhow, thanks for the info, your website is quite good. At least I know they'll fit.
