Hi guys just found the site and I'm relieved as I'm in need of some advice. I need some help up here in Missoula MT. I have one 280 with a 327 in it and ready to go for the most part (it was a gift) few things still need hooked up and I'm no grease monkey but I aspire to be one. :)

So first thing is I have a holly double pumper carb on there with a throttle cable thats about a foot long so I need to find a way to get to gas pedal and I'm hoping I don't have to by a new pedal and cable kit any ideas?

The second thing is the transmission, Its a automatic I'm guessing a T350 but I need to hook up a shifter and Ive never done that either. I was thinking of hitting up the junk yard to look for parts but am a little shaky on what I can use and what I just need to buy new. I need a trany cable, I have a B&M shifter but no boot for it so Ill probably be looking for one of them too.

What I do have is all in working order so thats good I just have limited knowledge and would appreciate any help you can give me.

I also have another Z but its stock and in fair shape so Im just going to keep whats in it and start on some cosmetics but Id like to start with the car that needs the most work.

Just call or email B&M They caouls send you the instructions, and cable/shift arm. I put a megashifter from B&M in my camaro, and it came with the boot, cable, etc. It also comes with a shifter arm that the cable hooks to on the tranny. I like Missoula, I have been there a few times, and looks like a great town.

First off, welcome to HybridZ. Within you’ll find a vast archive of wonderful and sometimes oddball V-8 Z info that people have either done, are doing, or at least talking about. Don’t hesitate to start browsing the V-8 forums, stickies, and that often forgotten search button at the top..

In regards to your question, just an addition to what TravRMK already stated. Look into the getting the JTR V-8-Z car conversion manual. It is an invaluable source of information about the V-8 Z car. It covers the ins and outs and some of the nuances of swapping a V-8 into a Z car including throttle linkage, automatic transmission shifters, as well as calibrating the OE Datsun tach to function with the Chevy distributor, using the stock Datsun speedo with the Chevy trans, suspension upgrades, cooling issues, etc.

Here is a link to that manual. It will be the best $34 you’ll spend on your V-8 Z. The author of that manual is also a member here and on occasion will chime in..

Good luck and welcome,
