280zx disc brake install Q

Recommended Posts

Over the weekend, I finally got all my parts together for my brake swap onto my dime. I'm using the 83' 280zx calipers and standard brake pads. My question pertains to the "disc brake hardware kit" that came with the calipers. I cannot figure out where the hell to put these damn metal clips! Heres a link to an image of the part for reference: http://info.rockauto.com/getimage/getimage.php?imageurl=http%3A//info.rockauto.com/BeckArnley/0840925.jpg

Anyway, maybe it's right in front of my eyes, but I can't figure out what the hell these are for, or where they go. Any help or pictures of assembled calipers would really help. Thanks!

Okay the parts that you are looking at are the 280zx front brakes,a dn the parts he showed are 280zx rear brakes.

I couldn't explain in words, so I had to draw a picture but I'm on lunch so I had to hurry, this is there they go. sorry for the Picasso

the clips go on top of the pads and kinda wedge into the caliper

Yours look more like this, but these are for '79-'81

I don't see the same clips either. Sorry I couldn't help.

EDIT; Just goes to show how much I don't know about the '79 thats been sitting in my driveway for acouple years now.

This is the right diagram for the FRONT brakes.
