Guest powerman
Well today was the day that I decided that I was going to finally due something about my suspension. I have been having a problem with wearing out my tires on the outside edge (outside 1/3 of brand new tires are now at 50% tread in a matter of months.) I have no aftermarket adjustable parts so obviously something is wrong. I already know that the rubber (basically all rubber) on the car is bad. I got it from Arizona and every piece that I touch crumbles in my hand. For my new suspension I started installing the polyurethane bushings kit and Tokico HPs with Eibach springs. Now for the fun part... Everything is coming apart fine, I'm learning the suspension as I go along... then disaster strikes. While taking off the nut on the strut (in center of 3 from cabin) the big rubber piece around it breaks in half in my hands. I had not bought a spare one of these because quite frankly I didn't know existed... I thought I could make it work because I didn't want to waste any time. Started to put everything back together replacing bushings as I go along. (This is fun since nothing is labeled in the frikin bushing kit.) Basically longer story shorter... Couldn't make it work and had to go to my parts car off site. The reassembly was a complete waste of time and had to take it apart and the parts cars rear suspension. Wasted about half my day because of my inexperience with the suspension and of course not knowing what I was doing most of the time . I partly blame my 30 year old b*tch doing for doing her usual thing... making every thing harder then it should be. My daily driver is now sitting in the drive way on blocks. Funny thing is I still love it and can't wait to get a ride with the new suspension. Why do we all love our Zs so much?
