280zwitha383
Sell it while it will still drive. I hope you didn't pay very much money for it
280zwitha383
I would start by checking your fluids. White smoke is usually coolant burning. If you keep running out of antifreeze but don't have a leak then that's why (it's leaking into the engine and being burned off). Now the reason it is being burned off is the question. Usually it's either from a blown head gasket or cracked block or head. ASSuming one of those, you're losing power because you're not building compression (because you have a crack in something or a blown head gasket that is leaking air). The ticking you describe is not good either. If you're getting coolant in your oil then you're losing your lubrication and destroying your entire engine (bearings, cylinder walls, cam, lifters (are they called lifters in an OHC engine?) etc.). What you need to do is check your fluids. If you've got oil in your coolant or coolant/gas in your oil then you need to stop driving it and fix whatever problems you have. You might look at getting a junkyard engine to replace your current one as someone has probably not taken care of it. This might also be the time to consider a different engine if you know what I mean.....
JSM
Also check the compression. This may give you an indication of why you are not getting good power.
Guest stupid fast
i basically got the car for free. i traded my fuel pump for it.
280zwitha383
Also check the compression. This may give you an indication of why you are not getting good power. Yeah, that will give you a really good idea what's going on. For example my friends magnum 318 had gas in the oil. We did a compression test on it and #8 cylinder wouldn't even bump a compression gauge. I just imagined a rod going up and down with no piston on it... He messed his bearings up of course because of the gas and now he's going to try and sell it for a couple 100 bucks. i basically got the car for free. i traded my fuel pump for it. Awesome, if the tranny and rearend seem good then fix or swap that engine and enjoy.
Guest stupid fast
i think i might be doing a l28et or a 2jzgte, dont really know if i should go with a 2j because of the price. can i get 500-600 hp on stock rods? (maybe shotpeened) not stroker kit or nothing just a built l28et, i have all of the fuel system that i had bought for my dsm a while back and never installed it. ie: a1000 fuel pump,-8 an ss lines, -10 an ss lines, aeromotive fpr, 12 gal fuel cell, basically all of the fuel stuff exempt for a standalone computer(whats a good standalone?). anyways im going off subject, thanks anyways guys.
