MAXIMUS
Hey guys, have a question. I have a 406 sbc with 2 vents on the valve covers . 1 has a plain breather on it. The other has a line to my intake manifold, just under the carb. This is for the positive crankcase venting, right? should I keep this connected? or should I put a breather on it too? when it is connected, the car idles a bit higher, and feels smoother. But I feel like I putting hot air into the intake. So your thoughts please?
Savage42
It is a good thing to run it. It pulls air (pressure) from the crankcase during acceleration. If you don't run it, most vehicles will build up pressure and blow the oil dipstick off the tube and make the motor more prone to oil leaks past the seals and gaskets.
