Widening suspension 1 ft on each side...

I'm in the middle of my project car which hopefully will be a show car when finished. It's quite ambitious. I am taking my 1987 300z turbo that I have had for 8 years and doing the following mods... 95 LT1 vette engine / T56 tranny. This will be housed inside a Saleen S7 supercar body kit. In order for this to look like the Saleen, the car has to be approximately 2 feet wider; 1 ft on each side. My question is what will the handling be like after the suspension is widened and how reliable will the handling of the car be? Does anyone have any experience with this or know of anyone who has done this or any resources worth checking into? If there are any doubts at all I won't be proceeding with this kit and will look at some other kit. Thanks for any input..

Increasing front track with by 24" will be a huge job. You can't accomplish this with wheels spacers or wheels (who sells a 12 or even 6" long wheel stud?) You will have to relocate the entire suspension outboard by about 10" on each side. You'll also need a different steering rack, steering shaft, custom anti-roll bar, and the services of someone who is an excellent fabricator. It can be done, just be prepared to invest a lot of time and money.
