CruxGNZ
Pete, you have the same suspension setup as I will have (I need to install it). 10" coilovers in front and 8" coilovers in the rear with 5" threaded sleeves. I'm kind of in a bind here and my question for you is, where did you weld your spring perch on the fronts as well as the rears. Can you help me out and measure from the bottom of your strut up to where the bottom of the threaded sleeve is? My struts are sectioned 1.5" as well as yours. I will have Carrera camber plates up front, but for $131.25 ea. I'm not sure I will go that route as of yet. I heard they aren't the best. As for the rears I don't want camber plates, so I'm using the stock rubber mount and using some muffler tubing to locate the spring. How did you get the camber right on the rear? Did you slot the top of the strut towers? On a side note, I got a nasty letter from the old folks home where I keep my car. I have had the car up on jack stands for, well, quite a few months now and I'm not supposed to work on my car there. I have all my suspension bits at home. I need to get my suspension done VERY soon, so I can get it back on the ground. I can't loose this spot, especially right before winter. Could you help me out Pete? Thanks, Mat !M! pparaska
Rears: I have Carerra coilover kits. Not sure what the threaded tube length is, but it doesn't matter. What really drives where you put the tube is the rim width and backspacig, as well as the "shape" of the tire sidewall. On my 17" wheels, I made sure the bottom of the threaded tube was just above the rim lip as this area is really close on my car. I measured that to be 9" above where the forging and the strut tube meet on the strut. I had to actually shorten my threaded sleeves to make them fit. The top of the threaded sleeve is right at the top of the strut tube. Front. I measured 6-1/8" from the bottom of the threaded tub to the place where the strut tube and forging meet. Hope that helps! CruxGNZ
Pete, THANK YOU! I noticed that your name popped up on the recent visitors list then dissapeared for 10 minutes or so then reappeared. Moments later, I'm reading your post. Thanks for checking that out for me, I really appreciate it Pete. I also have 17's for my Z but I don't have the 9" wide rear wheels yet . Your info helped me out a lot. Thanks again, Mat !M!
