Challenger
I think turn off the light derived from turn down the light which used back in the days of oil lamps. One of the definitions for turn is to reverse the position or placement of. Your reversing the placement/position of the light from on to off. Careless
does anyone find the use of the combination of words "excuse me" to be more aggressive than saying "scyooz me". LOL. the incorrect way never gets a weird frown, the correct pronunciation always gets this "look of devastation" or something from the parties addressed. Careless
I'm always confused when someone asks me to turn the air conditioner down. Printed on the startup screen for Windows 2000 is says "Based on NT Technology." NT stands for Network Technology. just to clarify, even though it still sounds utterly stupid, it's actually an abbreviation for "New Technology ". so therefore, it's a stupid correction, but it is actually "Based on New Technology Technology". this happened just after Bill Gates took money out of his stock investments and put it towards an unquantified number of bags of gasoline... ... and sniffed them.
