terrycoxusa Posted November 8, 2007 Share Posted November 8, 2007 I just finished painting my 74 260z. The hood sits about 1/2" high in the front. I dropped the hinges as low as they would go, no help. Nothing is bent, fenders and door line up fine. What's the trick to get the front of the hood to go lower? ezzzzzzz Posted November 8, 2007 Share Posted November 8, 2007 Are yours lubricated as this can be a problem. Binding and/or excessive wear doesn't allow the hinge to operate properly. I had this problem with worn out hood hinges. My solution was finding a later set of hinges in good condition and having them replated. This difference is astounding. There are actually THREE adjustments: hood to hinge, hinge to body, top of hood to hood latch. To the original poster, try this. Open your hood all the way. Loosen the two front bolts on the hood to hinge connection. Now, grab the top of the hood and pull forward. The hood will rotate around the two back bolts on the hood to hinge connection. This will cause the front of the hood to drop. Important: Tighten each bolt while you are pulling forward on the hood. frldyzpimpn Posted December 4, 2007 Share Posted December 4, 2007 I having similar problem. When I lower my hood with out actually latching it, it sits uneven. Its way to far of from one fender, and almost overlapping the other fender. I have to slam and force it to lockup with latch. Once its in place it appears straigh and flush, but it is force.
