Hitman47
Im buying a 73 240 and a 9 inch laying around can someone tell me how to go about putting in a 4 link suspension i.e conversion kits or parts i can convert myself. I plan on dropping a 355 in it with 400 hp. And also were the z`s power steering?
Guest Thurem
A 9" is a little overkill for 400hp, if you swap in a R200 diff instead of the stock R180, you should not have too much trouble making it hold up. Independent suspension will net you better handling, and if you stay away from too stiff a spring you can launch really well, as well. Thure Just my 2 cents. Guest Anonymous
Power steering showed up in the later 280 ZXs (79 ?) I understand Mustang power steering has been modified to adapt to the early Z and a search function should locate these threads and how to websites. I agree Ford 9 inch solid axle is a lttle too much fabrication work for 400 HP when the IRS R 200 can do it and with LSD...but a search function should locate mebers with this modification. Tim 240 Z has went beyond the R200 and installed a Q 45 diff and this diff will most likely take spec standing comparison to the Corvette IRS diff
Dan Juday
Al Silvera(sp, sorry Al) aka Alsil has swapped the Ford PS rack. If you do a search for Alsil you should get a link to his web site in his sig.
