Would a 1989 240sx have the same bolt pattern as a 1978 280z

I remember hearing somewhere that all Nissans up until the end of 1989 had the same bolt pattern wheel. Would a 1989 240SX have the same bolt pattern as a 1978 280z? If not, which Nissans do? I'm going to buy an el-cheapo tire and wheel package for my car from www.tirerack.com and they don't list a 280z as a car to search by, what other vehicles have the same bolt pattern?

Lets not compare apples and oranges! Anyways, the boltpattern is very common 4 on 4.5" or 4 on 114.3mm, BUT the offset of the mounting surface is different. The Z and ZX's (I think) have zero offset and newer front wheel drive cars usually have 35 to 40mm offset. This means it is difficult to find direct bolton wheels for a Z unless you use a spacer (Ross C has them). If you go to a larger wheel the handling on a Z benefits from a little offset, about 15mm offset is supposed to work well. With that in mind a 25mm (or 1 inch) spacer works well if you wanna adapt frontwheeldrive wheels to your Z.

The other option is to find a wheel that will work as a direct bolton. Check out these partnumbers from summitracing CLL-8066806425, CLL-8066805425, CLL-8066804425. They might work for you. Then combine them with some Sumitomo HTR-Z 225/45- 16 and you could be in the bizzz.

Kind of frustrated, a lot of these websites list the wheel but not the offset, just the bolt pattern. I really wanted to keep it below 150 a wheel. Wanted to keep it a bland silver finish, too. I found a nice set of 5 spoke 4-4.5 wheels on discounttire.com, but it doesn't list the offset. I suppose I will have to call them.

Well, you can almost guarantee the stocked wheels have offsets of at leats +20 and more likely +35 and higher.......or else Z owners would have found them. Their just hasn't been a 4x4.5 near zero offset car in many years now.

FWIW, you can find MANY late model honda and nissan wheels used (naturally they're available new, but great deals to be had used)and often with great tires for fine deals/ebay/loca buysell rags etc.....combined with spacers your cost could still stay below your target. Another great feature of running more common wheels is it can be very easy to trade them off and step to new ones at most any time......get into one set cheap and then you've got all the time you need to find your next great deal on your favourite types whether they're lightweight enkei RP styles or Trophy TSW's or......you name it.

Good luck in your quest and keep the shiny side up!
