Guest Anonymous Posted January 13, 2003 Share Posted January 13, 2003 I have finally found a wheel in a 280z's bolt pattern that I like. Thing is, I am not sure if they will fit on a 280z correctly. They have a -45mm offset. They are made by Eagle, was looking at the 15x8s. Here is a link. http://www.eaglewheels.com/094.htm Would this wheel, 15x8 -45mm offset, work okay on a 1978 280z? Guest greimann Posted January 13, 2003 Share Posted January 13, 2003 A -45mm offset combined with an increased rim width of 2 inches will put the outside of the tire about 3" outboard of a stock wheel and tire. Take a ruler and hold it against your tire and see where a 3" push to the outside puts the tire, but I believe it will be outside of the fender. How about the 2nd one I pasted? I like that even more. 15x7 4x4.5, not sure of the offset but I think it's RWD. Will those work? Guest greimann Posted January 14, 2003 Share Posted January 14, 2003 The second wheel you posted has a 4.5" backspacing. That info is on the Technical tab of the page you show. The backspacing means there is 4.5" from the mounting hub to the inner most edge of the inside rim. This means that the wheel is moving closer to the strut by .5" (because a stock 15x6 ZX wheel has a 4" backspace). I don't think that wheel will work as is, unless you put a .5" spacer in there, or run 195mm section tires, which are kinda skinny. When I used 8" wheels on my 280, they had a zero offset, and I just barely got my pinky between the fender and the tire (I used 245/45ZR16 tires). Now push that out another 45mm (almost 2") and you have quite a problem (In my eyes anyway). The first link you gave showed a matrix for a 10" wide wheel.
