hoov100
Well its dead..... the green motor ate itself and we did an all night motor swap on friday, got to the track and had carb problems, then battery problems. sunday, we rebuilt the carb at the track, and lowered the pan hard bar one notch, ripped the brake caliper mounts off the rear end and took the lines with it, so we disconnected the rear brakes and capped off the line, then proceeded to hit a cement pad, bent the lower control arm, ripped off the trans pan and bent a rim, ripped off part of the body, but after an hour, it was back on the track. pics to come monday! hoov100
A little update on the cars current condition. we took third over all in the last auto-x (two weeks ago) broke a couple lower ball joints, and had an e-fan relay issue, but overall did good. During the last few runs of the day, we ended up breaking a stock pushrod. After 6 years of hard hard life on the race track with average peak RPM's of 7500, it finally gave up. so hopefully we'll have a better valve train in it next time. We might also be swapping over to a purpose built chassis in the near future as well.
hoov100
Little bit of an update, we havent fixed anything yet, but we are trying to decide where to go with this car. IE, finish the cage and put a new body on it, or just use a different chassis altogether.
hoov100
Lol, so we just won fastest time overall and got fastest time in our class and I scored second place in my sisters stock z32TT. Well a day later we started round number 2 of weight reduction. The entire firewall is going out and maybe the stock floor as well. We are going to make a single seat pod in there place and go from 2800 punds with a driver and 22 gallons of gas, to 2500 pounds with driver and 22 gallons of gas, as well as push the motor back another 6 inches. hoov100
Not much of an update, we have decided to keep just the driverside floor for now so we won't have to build a new one. The entire passenger floor and firewall have been removed and we have decided on moving the motor back another 7.5 inches to give us 53% rear weight and we are going to offset the motor about half an inch to the right to offset the driver. We are also going to do a little more cage work as well as tin off the passenger side and make a lightweight firewall. Any suggestions as to what we should add on for chassis reinforcements are appreciated.
hoov100
lol, set that motor back just a wee bit to far....(it's coming forward about 8 inches though)
hoov100
We got the motor where we actually want it the other day, but to our demise we have to cut the factory body brace so we will be rebuilding it and will get her in there. I have to still rewire the car and do a couple little odds and ends. Pics when I remember to post them!
