zane9000
I grabbed a dual pickup dizzy off of a 280ZX in the junk yard the other day. I was planing on using this with an HEI module, but I am not sure what to do with the second pickup. Should I just pull it out and use it like a single pickup unit? Im not sure what year the car was, but Im sure it was an earlier one because the ignition module was not connected to the distributor body. Thanks, Warren
alexideways
Was the car you picked it up from an automatic?? Cause, IIRC, the second pick up is used in the automatic cars as a static timing for when the car is on "PARK", I did the same as you, used HEI and got the twin pick up distributor I don't remember which one was which though, I'll try to find it in my pile of, now useless, L24 parts to see which one I used. zane9000
Im not sure if it was an automatic, I really just grabbed it without looking at the car at all. I know it was a bit foolish, but I was in a big hurry. From what I read in my manual the dual pickup was exclusively for the automatic cars though... alexideways
Ok, when you look at the distributor from the top, with securing bolt in the position it would be if it was mounted to the engine, it should be the top one. Let me know, as I'm unsure, when I pulled the L24 from the Z, I disassembled everything and now, for some reason, both wires are hanging loose. I had tied up the unused one with a tie-wrap, don't know what happened to it!?!?!?!?
zane9000
Do you mean the one on the top is the one to use or the one to ignore?
alexideways
The one to use.
