Trevor
My Chilton's book is pretty sparse, but does cover '84-'89 300ZX models. It says to get to the heater core you have to take the dash apart - and - (shudder) evacuate the air conditioning system. Please tell me it's not buried that deep!?! Chaparral2f
I had to remove the heater from my '84 to move the firewall. It is a PITA but nothing that can't be done. Here is an idea of what is involved: First drain the water and evacuate the air conditioner then remove the hoses. Then remove the dash. I found instructions for removing the dash at z31.com. Unplug the wiring harnes and vacuum lines (Remember where they go) Next remove all the air and defroster ducts then you can pull the heater assembly out. If you take a LOT of pictures, and draw a lot of diagrams as you go it will make the process a whole lot easier.
