Guest Anonymous
I am looking at a 79 280zx with a 5 speed. The car is quiet until I get it in gear. When in gear it makes a constant loud whining noise. Is the trans possibly going bad or just the clutch. The car shifts into all gears and is pretty smooth just noisy. BLKMGK
How's the fluid level in the trans? Is it the right fluid?
Guest Anonymous
I was going to say, throw out bearing, but if it doesn't do it in neutral as well, it may be the front bearing in the transmission going bad, they'll do that under load. Just a guess mind you. Lone [This message has been edited by lonehdrider (edited December 26, 2000).]
MYRON
Does the noise change as you push in the clutch when it is in neutral? If the noise does not change it may be a layshaft bearing. Myron
