z-ya
You can't use the turbo distributor with the NA ECU. You need to get yourself a turbo ECU and harness. Or run standalone. Also, the NA dished pitons are not the same as the turbo ones. I do know people that have run them in turbo applications without problems, but other I know have had problems. Run it for as long as it lasts, then find an F54 turbo block and pistons in good shape.
bianski
I thought that 77 280Z came with dished pistons??
MJLamberson
search bud, they are dished, but a lot thinner then turbo pistons, I read that they are reliable up to 13psi given appropriate fuel and stuff. There are tons of threads about this, listing everything you need and everything you would want.
bianski
i have searched it but i wasnt sure if you could run the turbo parts with the N/a ecu so i just put my parts on here so i wouldnt leave any questions behind

mario_82_ZXT
There's a reason your old thread (over here) was put in the tool shed. All this has been covered waaayyyy too many times. By the way, the difference in pistons is the ringlands. The NA ones aren't as strong and take a lot less detonation to destroy. Old turbo kits on NA cars used the cold start injector activated by a pressure switch at a certain boost level. It works but the driveability is crap compared to a more modern EFI system. Also, I believe the pin outs for the AFM are different between turbo and NA models. Mario

There are a few on this forum that do talk down to people, and frankly I wish they would stop it. Your post above will only add flames to that fire BTW. For some of us, having to answer the same questions over and over again, gets really old. I answered the same questions (again) in my first post to this thread. Did I say the 77 280Z didn't have dished pistons? Please read my initial post again....
bianski
sorry about that Z-ya. Its just some people get under my skin and i normally voice my opinion so yea sorry man. Thanks for all your help and i know you guys answer a lot of the same questions but the questions are always gonna be asked over and over. And now that im gaining knowledge i will happily answer the same question for different people just because i know that it helps in some way thats what forums are for and i thank you for not talking down on me or being a jerk when so many others just show their embarrassing side to them
