Guest Anonymous
jegs.com has a new T5 six speed, they say its made for the 79-93 mustang, but I'm wondering if that would fit onto the L24 block?
BLKMGK
Umm, I believe that would be a T56 transmission. They make these for the older FOX Mustangs and for the later model Mod Motors. If it's really a T5 with a 6th gear added get out of the way as hordes of people beat down their door
Guest Anonymous
no, its not the T56, its a "Richmond T5" heres what the online catalog says: ----------------------------------------- Mustang 1984-93 T-5 Designed with the driving enthusiast in mind! Constructed of CNC machined and heat treated components for extra strength. Based on the five speed but this one has another gear to grab! Includes shifter. Note: Includes crossmember and speedometer connection kit. Bellhousing must be replaced with Lakewood #620-15202, or equivalent. May also use 1979-83 Mustang V8 bellhousing. -------------------------------------------- that seems different from the regular T56, but rather like a T56/T5 hybrid. go to: www.jegs.com go to the catalog -> transmissions -> manual -> Richmond T5 6-Speed
pparaska
That might be a T45? Not as strong as the T56. BLKMGK, any other Mustang guys, you know?
BLKMGK
Ah okay. This is NOT a T5 in any way shape or form. I have NO idea why they named it that! IT's got EXTERNAL rods for shifting. The older Richmond 5 speed used to have a 1:1 5th if memory serves so it looks like THAT trans with a 6th gear. Is it overdriven? They don't give ratios... At over $3K I'd stay away anyway. IT's sure not a T45. Mustang guys I know are using modified T56s from Tremec.
