Guest dankinzle
My stock 700r4 is about to bite it. What's everyones opinion on the strength of 700r4? I want to run one with a 3000 stall, and I was talking with some tranny shop guy and he reccomended against it. Can a 700r4 be built to handle a decent amount of power (like 450tq) reliably and where do you think I should look for kits and such? 383 240z
I just finished building mine it should handel about 550ft lbs I used kolene steels, raybestos blue plate friction, billet servo, red eagle band set my clutch pack up w/9 steels and .024" free travel a Fairbanks Shift Kit (stage 3) and a fully hydralic lock-up(no wiring needed) and a diode sprag/with a 10 vane pump with unbreakable rings and slide. I've run a similiar unit behind a blown 468 BBC with very little trouble.
383 240z
P.S. you will need to match the TC to your engine torque curve don't just pick one from a catalog. I got my parts from Transtar.
