Guest Tom Scala Posted September 20, 2001 Share Posted September 20, 2001 For kicks the other day I took my 78zt to a deserted industrial park for a little holeshot practice and noticed when I broke traction both rear tires painted even black strips every time. I have the original non-LSD 3.54 rear. Is this a function of the independent rear? Is this common or do I just have the right combination of suspension parts or weight tranfer? Dan Juday Posted September 20, 2001 Share Posted September 20, 2001 A solid axle will twist with torque lifting one wheel and mashing the other to the ground. One gets good bite, the other spins. In your Z car the IRS stops all that at the u-joints. Even weight on each tire means even length scratch marks. Ah, is that essence of Goodyear I smell? With it attached, im the one wheel smoling wonder....hmmmm guess it does make a differnce.
