Cooprdog
I have a V3 megasquirt that I'm assembling and when I attempt to test the hyperterminal connection I get a lot of strange characters. I set the values as follows: Baud Rate 115200 data bits 8 parity none stop bits 1 flow control none ....I also went into the device manager and under the advanced tab of the port setttings I set the buffer to it's lowest level (1)....(after perusing the instructions)... and I still get the crazy characters. can you steer me in the right direction? flames_187
are you giving the ms board power?
Cooprdog
No, I'm not powering the board. I've just created a loop between pins 2 & 3... trying to get the characters to echo

Cooprdog
Yes I have the correct cable, it turns out that the alligator clips were too large and touching the sides of the DB-9, so now I'm all good (for now)...thank guys.
