MIBPreacher
1988 GL model 300ZX. Heat selector on cold = watercock pulled in. Heat selector on warm (middle) = water cock full out. Heat selector on hot = watercock full out. Cold sucks it in, Hot lets it out. Only defrost works, no matter which vent is chosen. When fan is on low position, fan is off. When fan is on off its at the low speed. When fan is moved from low to high, fan speed gets faster. and like I said, hot or cold, all I get is heat, yet the water cock goes up and down so you would think the water would not be able to go through the heater core, and it doesnt look like I have a bypassed water cock. Any clue?
Racinjitter
Not just the water cock controls the heat. The blend door in the HVAC unit behind the instrument panel also controls heat. Check your vacuum lines and actuators. The blower motor on the other hand, I have no idea. Maybe check the wiring?
Guest Jenna86
Control sounds like wireing for shure (mabey corosion?) Vacume controls absolutely seem to go bad (including mine (almost exact same problem with heat and position as you) just haven't got to it yet). That's at least where I am starting per the advice of the z-car wise men here, but it's a bit of a pain as you have to remove the dash board to get at the actuators, and you can't really get used ones due to the common nature of this problem. Hope that's some help, Jay
